Who I am
I grew up in North Palm Springs surrounded by gang violence and drugs. Where I come from, the streets usually decide your future. Boxing was my way out. The first day I stepped into a gym in 1994, everything changed. From day one, it wasn't just a hobby; it was my lifeline and my passion. That passion carried me through a 23-year career in boxing, where I became a five-time world champion and learned the sport from the deepest levels—physically, mentally, and emotionally. In 2023, I was honored with induction into the International Boxing Hall of Fame, a moment that represented not just titles and wins, but survival, discipline, and purpose.
Even after my fighting days, I never left boxing. I've worked as a color commentator for ESPN Top Rank Boxing and continued breaking down the sport from a fighter's perspective, seeing things you only notice when you've lived it.
